Activists Halt Construction of Gush Etzion Partition Wall

“Citizens of Gush Etzion were alerted that Defense Ministry contractors intended to begin construction of the Partition Wall Thursday morning in the Suda Forest, adjacent to the Gush Etzion Junction. They arrived this morning with signs decrying the building of the wall they say will cut off and constrict Gush Etzion’s communities.”

“In mid-protest, the Supreme Court ordered work on the wall to be halted for five days. Demonstrators stayed in the forest until the Defense Ministry representatives acknowledged receipt of the order, at which point the crowd dispersed.” read more

Suicide Accounts for 1/2 of IDF Fatalities in 2005

“The army has issued tighter restrictions on soldiers’ weapons because 33 soldiers committed suicide this year …”

“Brig.-Gen. Avi Zimer … gave the information as part of the IDF’s annual fatalities report. The number of suicides accounted for half of the 66 fatalities in the 2005 report, marking a jump from 2004 of 28 suicides.”

What is not being disclosed to the public is how many of these 33 suicides occured post-expulsion. MB read more

Newsweek Stands By Quotes on Dividing Jerusalem

“Newsweek Magazine issued a statement Wednesday backing its article which states that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon intends to cede part of Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority (PA). Apparently now, there is two-fold panic in Likud. One is either real or feigned fear of Sharon’s “Kadima (sic)” and the other is that of the corrupt “old boys” who are petrified that Moshe Feiglin may win the Primary, lead Likud to a Jewish Leadership victory in the March National Elections and crumble some patronage empires in the process. There are tens of thousands of Jews sitting on the fence waiting to see the results of the Likud Primary vote. A Feiglin victory in Likud will thrust him into the National Elections with a victory and the Prime Ministership a real possibility. read more
