PM Sharon’s Son Omri Sentenced to 9 Months in Jail
Excerpts;
“Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court Judge Edna Bankenstein on Tuesday sentenced Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s son, Omri, to nine months in jail, nine months probation, and a NIS 300,000 fine.”
“However, in light of his father’s condition, the judge granted a postponement of his jail time for six months.”
“Sharon’s lawyer, Navit Negev, complained that the sentence was too stiff and that they planned to appeal, Army Radio reported.”

These three events are particularly important and crucial in light of the current attempts by the government to encage the Kever Rachel complex by way of walls and fences, thus attempting to obstruct normal, regularly scheduled access to Kever Rachel.

“Shmuel Riffman, who heads the Negev Development Company, sent a letter to Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, in which he states money is not the reason holding up the protection for frontline homes and communities.“
“’Both of us know the defense establishment finished 2005 with funds remaining in the coffer,’ wrote Riffman in his letter.”
“Negev officials explain that NIS 95 million of a NIS 210 million earmarked for protection have yet to be released by the national government while rocket attacks against the communities have become a daily occurrence.”

“Photos of the Kassam rocket that landed in Ashkelon’s Rotenberg Power Plant last week have been posted on the Rotter.net news-scoop web site.”
“The rocket was fired from the area of northern Gaza where three Jewish communities were destroyed as part of the unilateral Disengagement Plan. Critics of the plan warned of the likelihood of rockets attacks on civilians and sensitive installations prior to the implementation of the expulsion.”

Beilin: A Weak Partner is Better Than No Partner

“The head of the far-left Meretz-Yahad Party, Dr. Yossi Beilin told supporters, ‘It is better to have weak partner than no partner,’ referring to Hamas’ recent election victory in the Palestinian Authority (PA) election.”
“Beilin told supporters that his party will send a clear message to Hamas leaders, expressing a willingness to sit down and talk without preconditions.”
“Speaking to supporters in a Tel Aviv pub, Beilin explained that dialogue is the only key and even Hamas cannot be ruled out at this juncture, since this is the voice of the PA residents.”
Meir Sheetrit on School Visit Says Amona Residents are Evil

“Education and Transportation Minister Meir Sheetrit (Kadima, formerly of Likud), told students on a visit to a school in Beit El yesterday that the residents of Amona and their supporters were evil.”
“Sheetrit responded to a girl who read him a letter relating to the events at Amona. The girl asserted that ‘G-d punishes evil doers.’”
“Sheetrit interrupted the girl and exclaimed angrily, ‘To whom exactly are you referring to by the word ‘evil’?’”
