Court: Kassam Attacks No Basis for Relocating Expulsion Victims

Full Text;

The Supreme Court Wednesday rejected an appeal from expulsion victims who demanded that the government provide them with housing that is free form Kassam rocket attacks. The justice said the government is obligated to provide compensation and housing, without taking responsibility for locating the former Gaza area residents in areas free from Kassam rocket attacks.

However, Justice Aharon Barak added that although the government does not have a legal obligation to relocate the victims, it should consider options other than the area of Karmiya, which has been besieged by the same rockets which beleaguered the residents before their expulsion from the Gaza region. “We have not ignored the dire state of the petitioners,” said Justice Barak. read more

Parsha Emor 5766: The Kohen; The Paradigm for Jewish Unity

By Moshe Burt

The positioning in Torah of our Parsha Emor, following last week’s Parsha Kedoshim gives rise to thought and contemplation.

Kedoshim teaches “…You shall be holy, for holy am I, Hashem, your G’d.” (Sefer Vayikra, Perek 19, posuk 1) And we learn that the epitome of this holiness is the principle taught by Rabbi Hillel to the convert, on one foot, says “V’ohavtoh L’reiachoh Komochoh” — “… you shall love your fellow as yourself…” (Sefer Vayikra, Perek 19, posuk 18) The Halachot subsequently taught in Parsha Kedoshim are all built upon the emulation of Hashem. read more

MSM Coverage of Events at Beit Shapira: Constitutes Defamation of the Chevron Community …

Jewish Squatters in Hebron are Evicted by Israeli Police

Commentary;

The term squatter in MSM baised lexicon denotes illegality as contrasted with the status of the residents of Hebron. If they (msm) ever treated the situation correctly, i.e. that the Beit Shapira property was legally acquired, that the residents of Beit Shapira had signed agreements which were monitored, reviewed and approved by recognized legal counsel in Israel before the families moved in, the media might come to the realization that the High Court of Israel is biased and agendized and a yet another vehicle of biased, agendized, hate-blinded and vindictive regime. read more

The Sgt. Dayan Case: IDF Degrading Due to Rejecting, De-Humanizing its Best Soldiers and Recruits, the Religious?

Our World: The IDF’s Suicide Attempt, by Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

… The IDF’s treatment of Dayan; its new recruitment guidelines and Halutz’s anti-religious rhetoric reveal a dangerous politicization of the IDF. It seems that today, with Hamas now in charge of the Palestinian Authority and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz now in charge of Israel, the IDF views Israelis rather than Arabs as its principal threat. Halutz and Stern, in criminalizing actions like Dayan’s while minimizing the significance of the Hamas takeover of the Palestinian Authority are sending a clear signal of where they believe the IDF should be devoting its energies. read more

OJT for Amir …

The Indefensible Defense Minister

Excerpts;

These passages from a Jewish Telegraphic Agency story carried by Philadelphia’s Jewish Exponent lay out much of what even the most able defense minister is up against: “How to deal with Palestinian terrorism under a radical, Hamas-led Palestinian Authority that refuses to condemn attacks; how to prepare for the challenge posed by Iran’s nuclear program, which is led by a regime that talks about wiping Israel off the map; how to accelerate completion of Israel’s West Bank security fence, delayed in part by bureaucratic bottlenecks in the Defense Ministry itself; and how to facilitate a major West Bank evacuation with minimal friction between the army and evacuated settlers.” read more

Olmert’s Achilles Heel: Labor ??

Bread Increase May Launch a Coalition Crisis

Full Text;

Shouts of disapproval regarding last week’s decision by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ordering a 7% increase in the price of subsidized bread can be heard from members of the coalition government, not just among opposition lawmakers.

Minister of Industry, Trade & Labor (Shas) Eli Yishai announced he will be leading the battle, but others, including MKs from the Labor Party are already flexing their coalition muscles, explaining they may oppose the state budget when voted upon in budget. Some Laborites tactfully reminded the prime minister via the media that the Labor Party can topple the government at any moment. read more

The Way to KO Olmert Regime, Coalition in the First Round …

Knesset Budget Vote Delayed

Excerpts;

Opposition MKs won a small victory over the government Monday by pushing back the vote on the 2006 state budget by two days.

The budget was scheduled to go to a first reading and vote in the Knesset Monday afternoon. However, following the objections of several Pensioner and Labor MKs to the hike in the bread prices, the Knesset’s Interim House Committee decided to delay the vote to Wednesday.

While Kadima MKs shrugged off the delay, calling it a “generous gesture” to allow other parties to review the budget, others said it pointed to the weakness of Olmert’s coalition. read more
