Pollard Writes to Captive Soldiers’ Families

Full Text;

Dear Shalit, Regev and Goldwasser Families,

From the moment Gilad was taken captive and then Eldad and Ehud shortly thereafter, I have not been able to stop thinking about them or about you. I pray every single day for their safe and swift return home, together with all of our MIAs and captives.

My wife Esther and I feel for you with all of our hearts. Although it is not easy for me to speak about the issue of captivity, I feel I must share with you what is in my heart. read more

Wednesday War News …

Commentary;

Something seems amiss. For the past number of days, at least since Sunday, there is little war-related news to speak of from any of the major news sites, including Israel National News. In the view of this author, that this could suddenly be is unfathomable. This author’s guess is that big-time spin and censorship is at work as Olmert, Peretz, Halutz, etc. scurry around endeavoring to prove that Israel “won” the War in Lebanon and that there’s no need for an investigatory panel with clout. read more

Parsha Shoftim 5766: Where There’s No Just Judgement, There’s No Law! — Revisited

Parsha Shoftim 5766: Where There’s No Just Judgement, There’s No Law! — Revisited

By Moshe Burt

The third posuk of our Parsha reads; “Tzedek, Tzedek tierdof…” Righteousness, righteousness (also rendered Justice, Justice) you shall pursue that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord, your G’d gives you.” (Sefer Devarim, Perek 16, posuk 20)

This posuk follows immediately after the opening of our Parsha; “Judges and officers shall you appoint in all of your cities — which Hashem …gives you — for your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgement. You shall not pervert judgement, you shall not respect persons, neither take a bribe, for a bribe binds the eyes of the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.” (Sefer Devarim, Perek 16, p’sukim 18-19) read more

War Hero Emanuel Morano’s Legacy VS Olmert’s War Against the Jews

Our World: Emanuel Morano’s Legacy By Caroline Glick

“Dan Halutz and his generals daily insulted the religious Zionist community. Halutz threatened to bar the youths who protested the expulsions from serving in the military. Maj. Gen. Dan Harel, who as then OC Southern Command commanded the expulsions, talked about “a lost generation,” and demanded an accounting by the heads of the religious Zionist public for their children who refused to accept the legitimacy of the expulsions. Maj. Gen. Benny Ganz, who then served as OC Northern Command, claimed that the youth who protested the expulsions were a greater danger to Israel than Hizbullah.” read more

Lions or Mice? Take Down the Flag of Surrender and Fight Like Jewish Men!

Raising the Flag of Surrender Michael Freund (Israel National News)

Just days after Syria’s President spoke openly of “liberating” the Golan Heights by force, a prominent Israeli government minister has now signaled a willingness to surrender to Damascus’ demands.

In a thinly-veiled trial balloon aimed at testing public opinion, Israel’s Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter said today that he believes that in exchange for peace with Syria, the Jewish state can abandon the Golan. read more

Halutz’s Military Leadership Credibility: Shot to Smitherines …

No Confidence in the Commander

His claim that he is “more ethical than many others” does not meet the test of taking responsibility. “A victory on points, not a knockout,” as Halutz summed up the war, is not good enough for a small, threatened country such as Israel.

Excerpts;

For now, the weekend papers are taking the place of a commission of inquiry. The frustration and anger expressed by both reservists and regular soldiers who took part in the fighting may never be heard by any official investigative body, but they will echo throughout Israeli homes for many months to come. read more

The Perks of Being in Kadima’s Coalition After the War…

Who Ordered the Cuts to the Religious Services Budget?

Full Text;

At a meeting today of the Knesset Finance Committee, committee chairman Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism) challenged a representative of the ministry of finance to explain what he said was a disparate cut in funding for yeshivas and municipal religious councils. According to Litzman, the cuts in religious services and yeshiva education (15%) are proportionally greater than the across-the-board cuts to all other ministerial budgets. Officially the proposed across-the-board cuts are to average 6 percent. read more
