Insulting Jewish Intelligence…

An Insult to Our Intelligence, By David Horovitz and Ruthie Blum (Jerusalem Post)

They come from opposite ends of the political spectrum, but MKs Matan Vilna’i and Yuval Steinitz share some strikingly similar sentiments about the failures of the war in the North. In their analyses, expressed in separate interviews, many of the flaws stem not from a lack of information on the enemy, but from an appalling inability to internalize and act on that information.

Matan Vilna’i: When the chief of staff presents a war plan, ministers have to ask him the right questions, to be sure they know what Israel is getting into. That didn’t happen. read more

Olmert Attempts Evasion of State Scrutiny On War…

The Committees of Inquiry are a National Farce, By Ze’ev Segal (Haaretz)

Full Text;

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has established committees of inquiry devoid of any real basis and lacking in public credibility. The results they produce will be viewed with distrust.

Olmert is well aware of the differences between the various tools of inquiry. He evaded the governmental decision to establish a state committee because it would have been comprised of members nominated by the president of the Supreme Court, and because a former senior Supreme Court justice would have headed it. Olmert knows that the public would attribute great importance to the findings of such a committee. read more

Extraction and Eradication of Post-Zionism and Elitism: Key to Restoration of Founding National Values…

What to Do About Tel Aviv, By Isi Leibler (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

We are already immersed in painful evaluations to identify the cause of the breakdowns in our decision-making processes and in rectifying the weaknesses in the IDF as a consequence of the recent war.

What went wrong?

The problem goes far beyond the failings of individual leaders. Nor, as is frequently alleged, is the primary source the pain and agony endured by successive generations of Israelis witnessing their children leaving for the battlefields to risk their lives in defense of the nation. read more

Dan Halutz: Most Blatant Paradigm of Systemic Me-Firstism Rampant Throughout Gov’t. of Israel…

Halutz: ‘Mr. PM, We Won the War’ (From Ynet)

Halutz smiled and called the prime minister, who was smoking a cigar as he waited in his Jerusalem home to receive the general’s phone call. “All long-range rockets have been destroyed,” Halutz declared. Then, he added three words that haunt him to this day: “We won the war.”

Hezbollah used a method that they most likely learned from the Iranians, and succeeded, among other things, in cracking the code of IDF communications devices, including quick transfers between frequencies. As such, the organization was able to track reports of Israeli casualties and, thus, control the media battle by reporting Israeli fatalities first. read more

Meir Sheetrit, he of the mean, nasty, divisive mouth, the boorish bully who is confused about his identity, roots and ideology gets rewarded with a 2nd ministry, Justice, in addition to the Housing Ministry in which capacity he utterly neglected the citizens of the north.

Commission of Inquiry Needs to Investigate Regime’s Lack of Compassion for Citizens of the North…

Olmert is Waiting for Ravitz By Ruth Sinai (Haaretz)

For context, click here and here

“If a commission of inquiry is established, it will have to conclude that by his failure to appoint a minister of social affairs, Olmert left the civilian population to its own devices.”

Excerpts;

In a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office during the war, one of the participants remarked that there is no minister of social affairs. “What do you mean, there is no minister of social affairs?” Prime Minister Ehud Olmert snapped. “I am the minister of social affairs.” Olmert’s response reflects cynicism and insensitivity, for which no declarations about his deep concern for the civilian population and his commitment to rehabilitating the north can atone. His comment is as much in need of an official examination as are other matters. read more
