Parsha Shelach 5774: Distortions of the Modern-Day Shelach, and the War for the Jewish Soul in Eretz Yisrael

Shalom Friends;

This week, our Parshat HaShevua Sh’lach is being sponsored by Dr. Eli and Miri Behar of Ramat Beit Shemesh L’ilui Nishmas for the Yahrtzeit of Yerachmiel Meir ben Nissim Avraham. To the Behar family, many thanks for your sponsorship and continued kindness.

You can celebrate a Simcha — a birth, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a Chassuna or other Simcha event in your life, or commemorate a Yahrtzeit of a loved one, or for whatever other reason by sponsoring (or as the case may be, co-sponsoring) a Parshat HaShevua. read more

Parsha Shelach 5773: Distorted Modern-Day Shelach, and the Divine Incumbency Behind Our Dwelling in Eretz Yisrael

by Moshe Burt

Our Parsha Shelach brings to mind the evolution of today’s Israeli political, governmental scene. Continued governmental tolerance of Arab attacks upon Jews — near the Kotel and throughout Yehuda and the Shomron, of prohibition of Jews, even MKs, from praying at Har HaBayit (The Temple Mount), of alleged police framing of Jews regarding alleged violence and damage in so-called “Arab areas” all show clearly that the politicians still have not learned and internalized the lessons which should have been gleaned after Jew expelled Jew from Gush Katif. read more

“Peace House”, Hevron: Regime Planning Repeat of Amona Brutality?

.

Commentary;

The Israeli Supreme Court ruled on Sunday, rejecting the overwhelming body of conclusive evidence that Beit HaShalom (Peace House) was legally and legitimately purchased by Jews, stating that the decision “allows them [the State] to do so” — to evict the more than 20 families who live there.

In the process, the regime and its MSM (mainstream media) has engaged in a continuous blood-libel again pitting Jew against Jew and dividing B’nai Yisrael against itself as with Gush Katif, as with Amona, as with the destruction of the Federman/Tor Farm and recent events at Har HaBayit. read more

Parsha Chaye Sarah 5769: Avraham’s Intuitive Perception, When Does it Rub Off on Us?

.

by Moshe Burt

There are two intriguing commentaries, each relating to a different posuk of Parsha Chaye Sarah, regarding the dialogue leading up to Avraham Aveinu’s acquisition of the Ma’arat HaMachpela for 400 shekels of silver from Efron the Hittite.

The first of the two posukim is spoken by Avraham and says, in part;

“I will have given the money for the field; take it of me …” (Breish’it, Perek 23, posuk 13)

As Olmert Meets Abbas, PA TV Incites Ethnic Cleansing of Jews

.

Commentary;

While the self-hating Ehud Olmert keeps meeting with Mahmoud Abbas to facilitate handing over of Jewish land: Yehuda and Shomron as well Jerusalem and Har Habayit, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s own PA TV continues it’s daily non-stop inculcation of it’s constituents in anti-Israel, anti-Semitic invective.

Only someone totally lacking in personal self-dignity would continue to meet with an enemy who preaches and endoctrinates its people to our destruction 24/7 while continue to bombard us with Kassams, mortars, Molotov Cocktails and rocks. MB read more

Feiglin, Manhigut Yehudit Confront Olmert’s and Ramon’s Plans and Schemes to Divide Jerusalem Sovereignty With Abbas

.
Commentary;

Recently Bitterlemons.org conducted an interview with Palestinian Waqf supervisor Adnan Husseini. Here is the text of the point he made;

Husseini: We want a city with two sovereignties, open to each other and with full recognition between the two sides. There will certainly be technical issues that will need practical resolution, but nothing to do with the fundamental issues of land sovereignty.

The holy places are a closed file. This is not negotiable. The Aqsa Mosque is not something that can be compromised on, nor is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This is a closed file. The Old City is the heart of East Jerusalem, and everything else is the natural extension of this city. read more

Parsha Chaye Sarah 5768: Avraham’s Attribute of Intuitive Perception, Will It Rub Off on Us?

.

by Moshe Burt

There are two intriguing commentaries, each relating to a different posuk of Parsha Chaye Sarah, regarding the dialogue leading up to Avraham Aveinu’s acquisition of the Ma’arat HaMachpela for 400 shekels of silver from Efron the Hittite.

The first of the two posukim is spoken by Avraham and says, in part, “I will have given the money for the field; take it of me …” (Breish’it, Perek 23, posuk 13)

“…That a man may marry a woman by using money to effect the marriage is deduced in the Talmud (Kiddushin 2) by drawing a parallel from this verse. But the parallel goes beyond merely the acquisition of the land of the Efronite and the acquisition of a wife. Just as in a marriage the act of acquisition is only the beginning and not the end, because that is when all one’s obligations begin — food, clothing, etc. — the same is true in our dealings with the Efronites. Nothing ends with written contracts and agreements. We pay, pay and pay again, and yet they keep demanding more from us.” (Torah Gems on Chaye Sarah, page 182 quoting Rabbi A.M. Amiel) read more
