Surprise, Surprise: Did You Really Expect Egypt to Look After Israel’s Security by Combating Arms Smuggling into Gaza?

MKs Blame Kassam Attacks on Government and Egypt, By Sheera Claire Frenkel (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

Officials from across the political spectrum scrambled to cast blame Wednesday for the day-long Kassam attacks that pounded the south of Israel, killing one woman in Sderot.

MK Shai Hermesh (Kadima) said in response to the rocket firing Wednesday morning that “the source of the terrorism is because the Egyptian army turns a blind eye as a constant supply of arms flows into the Strip under their nose.” read more

Gay Display and Israel’s Discriminatory Legal System…

Perverted Sensibilities, by Evelyn Gordon (Jerusalem Post)

“Demonstrations in support of a left-wing cause – gay rights – are important enough to outweigh both religious sensibilities and threats of bloodshed, but demonstrations in support of a right-wing cause – Jewish rights on the Temple Mount – are not important enough to outweigh either.”

“Faith in the legal system, by enabling disputes to be resolved peaceably, is the glue that holds society together…. If… large segments of society become convinced that Israeli law does not grant them a fair hearing, many of their members are liable to conclude that they have no recourse except the law of the jungle: brute force.” read more

IDF Must Conquer Both Northern Gaza & the Egypt-Gaza Border…

More Calls to Conquer Large Parts of Gaza, by Hillel Fendel (Israel National News)

Col. (ret.) Moti Yogev: “The Kassam rockets are a direct result not only of the terrorists who fire them, but of the wantonness, lack of professionalism and irresponsibility of this government and its ministers. Pacifist Ezra to Hamas: Open Season Target Practice on Negev Towns for 10 Days…

In a live interview broadcast during the afternoon news magazine of Israel Radio, Environment Minister Gideon Ezra (Kadima) proposed that Israel declare that it will not respond to Palestinian rocket attacks for a period of ten days.

“We have tried everything else and it hasn’t worked,” Ezra explained.

Ezra conceded that it would have been easier to promote the proposal if he had come out with it before a woman was killed and a man seriously wounded in Sderot by a rocket today (Ashkelon was also hit by four rockets this afternoon). read more

The American Iraqi Parable Played Out by Israel in Lebanon Action…

An American Parable, by Samuel Freedman (Jerusalem Post)

“This parable applies, sadly, to Israel as well. Israel in the aftermath of the stalemate, if even that, against Hizbullah. Israel with Haim Ramon and Moshe Katsav in place of Tom Foley, Dennis Hastert and Jack Abramoff. But Israel, too, with all the architects of the summer’s unwon war still in place.”

“So let me just say, from this distant perch, and with all my Zionist ardor, that it appears curious and strange to see every leader in the summer’s war still ensconced in his position.” read more
