Olmert’s Disastrous Embrace of Fantasy

Our World: Defending the Defensible, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

Olmert’s address to high school students last week in Nahariya where he justified his decision to accept a cease-fire in Lebanon without first securing the release of IDF soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser from Hizbullah captivity was a sign that he may be stupid. Olmert told the students that he accepted a cease-fire because he didn’t want other soldiers to die just to get them home a little faster. They can wait a little longer, he said. read more

“Wake Up Jew, Wake Up, It’s Time to Fight Them…”

Motsei Shabbos, December 8, 2006;

Column One: Jews Wake Up! by Caroline Glick
(Jerusalem Post)

“The citizens of the State of Israel must also take to the streets. The government that led us to defeat in Lebanon this summer is leading us to a disaster of another order entirely. All citizens must demand that Olmert, his ministers and the generals in the IDF General Staff make an immediate decision. They now hold the responsibility for acting against Iran. They must either act or resign and make way for others who will.” read more

Ehud Olmert Decides to Let Sderot Fall…

Our World: An Orphan’s Appeal, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

For context on this story, click here.

“I love Sderot very much, and I won’t leave it because I love the State of Israel. If I leave Sderot, if all of Sderot were evacuated, then the country would fall apart. The Palestinians will see that they are succeeding in Sderot, and then they’ll shoot Kassams at Ashkelon and Ashdod too, and do the same in the whole country until nothing is left.”

“I, Yaacobov’s son, am turning to you. Resign your positions! Resign. The defense minister and Olmert should admit that they can’t do this, and vacate their places in the government to Bibi Netanyahu and to [Avigdor] Lieberman. If they can [defend us] I want to see their answer. If not, they should vacate their seats, quickly.” — Hanan Yaacobov, son of poultry processing plant fatality. read more

Iraq War, Iran, Israel/Arab Conflict: Everything is Related; Denial of Reality — Islam Vs Infidels…

Column One: The Gemayel Warning, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

“In choosing the strategy of retreat, Israel and the US have ignored the regional and indeed global nature of the war being waged against them. In such a war, it is impossible to view conflicts as discrete campaigns. Everything is related.”

Excerpts;

Hours after Gemayel was murdered, his killers issued a communiqu calling themselves the “Fighters for the Unity and Liberty of Greater Syria.” They said that they killed Gemayel because he was “one of those who unceasingly spouted their venom against Syria and against [Hizbullah], shamelessly and without any trepidation.” Gemayel, they threatened, would be the first of many victims. As they put it, “Sooner or later we will pay the rest of the agents their due…” read more

The Delusional World View of Olmert, Livni…

Column One: Israel’s Delighted Leaders, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

“In Olmert and Livni’s world, Israel won the war in Lebanon this summer; UNIFIL forces are good for the Jews; and Hizbullah – which is now working to overthrow the Lebanese government – has no interest in renewing its war against Israel.

The government sees no reason to prevent 1,500 PLO terrorists from Jordan from marching into Gaza with their guns and their families.”

Excerpts;

To the delight of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, an international coalition has coalesced around Iran’s nuclear weapons program. read more

Foreign Ministry Efforts to Reinvent Israel as Liberal/Gay-Friendly…

Column One: Truth in Advertising, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

“One of the primary target audiences that the Foreign Ministry is trying to attract is the homosexual community. Ministry officials view gay culture as the entryway to the liberal culture because, as he put it, gay culture is the culture that creates ‘a buzz.'”

“The so-called liberal Left are the ones who call Israel “that shi**y little country” at fancy dinner parties.”

Excerpts;

Israel is trying to reinvent itself. Last week Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni hosted a conference where she launched a new multimillion dollar project to “rebrand” Israel. As Livni put it, since coming into office, she has been struck by the disparity between the vibrant, liberal, free Israel she knows and Israel’s image abroad. read more

Foreign Forces: Oft-Proven Bankrupt Concept Again Backfiring Against Israel…

The Problem With Foreign Forces, Jerusalem Post Editorial

For context, click here.

Commentary;

The problem with foreign forces; in a nutshell such that msm pundits can’t relate amongst their sea of empty, meaningless words; entrusting Israel’s defense to third parties never worked and never will. Whether to whatever UN mechanism, whether to the “p.a (sic)”, whether to Egypt who, as Caroline Glick spells out; “has been assiduously preparing its military for war against Israel…” or to the French or the Germans, not only has such dependency on third parties to prevent enemy actions never worked to Israel’s benefit, but have ALWAYS worked against Israel, to her detriment, to constrict and constrain any attempt by Israel to defend herself. read more

Would What the US Does or Doesn’t Do Be Critical to a Faith-Based Israel?

Column One: Postcards from Saigon, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

Today, the public debate in the US revolves around one question: When are we leaving Iraq? The conventional wisdom has become that US operations in Iraq are futile. Due in large part to politically driven press coverage, Americans have received the impression that the US cannot succeed in Iraq and that consequently, their leaders ought to be concentrating their efforts on building an exit strategy. Comparisons between the war in Iraq and the Vietnam War are legion. read more

The Evolution of Blood Libels Against Jews: From Wildfire Rumors to Prime Time Pallywood, Hezbollywood…

Our World: Prime-Time Blood Libels, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

“Israel’s continued silence is a sign that Israeli officialdom has still not understood what the war of images demands of it. The Dura film, like the fictional massacre of Lebanese children at Kafr Kana in Lebanon this summer, shows that victory or defeat in wars is today largely determined on television. To win, Israel must go on the offensive and attack untruthful, distorted images that are used to justify the killing of Israelis and Jews throughout the world.” read more

Lieberman’s Gov’t Reform Bill Passes Cabinet Revote…

Cabinet Passes Lieberman’s Bill by Vote of 12-11, by Sheera Claire Frenkel (Jerusalem Post)

Caroline Glick’s words bear repeating;

“The greatest deficit of Israel’s governing system is not its instability, but its uneven checks and balances between the three arms of government. Second, Israel’s most urgent problem today is not its malfunctioning political system, but its incompetent political leadership.”

Full Text;

The cabinet approved on Sunday Israel Beitenu’s governmental reform bill by a vote of 12-11. Israel Beiteinu has demanded coalition support for the legislation as a condition for joining the government. read more
