Israel’s Total Confusion and Waffling: In the Ranks of IDF, In the Olmert Government Message …

Column One: The IDF’s Confusion, by Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

“Since Israel withdrew its citizens and military forces from the Gaza Strip last summer, a great deal has been written about the consequences of the destruction of the Jewish communities there for the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria. Much has also been said of the rising threats to Israel’s security in the South as a result of the retreat from Gaza.”

“There is a third aspect of the Israeli retreat from Gaza and northern Samaria that to date has not garnered any significant public attention. That issue is the impact of the operation on the Israel Defense Forces. Given that the IDF is the national organization charged with ensuring Israel’s survival, anything that happens to the IDF has direct consequences for Israel’s national security. And so it is worth considering what, if any, impact the operation has had on the IDF.” read more

Excerpts;

“On February 1, 2006, Shevat 3, Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation hosted a wonderful shiur at our house, Beit Bnei Rachel adjoining Kever Rachel by a corridor the army had us build on what we named Derech Chaya Rachel. Atara Gur spoke to a group of women about the Jewish Mother who was buried “on the way”. She spoke of Rachel’s ohel in Beis Lechem as a house of bread, provisions, family, unity as presented in a special Siddur Rachel Imeinu, compiled in 1911 by a Yerushalimi. It was sad and demeaning to have been blocked from traveling directly via Hevron Road as was the custom or Jewish Pilgims for 3600 years. It was inspiring and comforting to learn of Rachel’s midos and the prognosis for a better world.” read more

Parsha Yithro 5766: Awaiting Just Law, Enforcement and Justice

By, Moshe Burt

We read each day in Pesukei D’Zimrah (The praises of G’d), “He balks at the designs of peoples. Many designs are in man’s heart, but the counsel of Hashem — only it will prevail.”

We watched as a bullying, hard-hearted Prime Minister bulldozed through his hateful, vindictive expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif in those fateful days in August, 2005 as his opponents stood divided against themselves, seemingly handcuffed as the fate of thousands of Gush Katif residents hung in the balance while the old General divided, conquered and forced the expulsion’s actualization. read more
