Computer Stolen from MK Levy’s Kfar Maimon Home

A computer belonging to MK Rabbi Yitzchak Levy was stolen from his Kfar Maimon home during the night. Netivot area police report that was the only item stolen from his home.

Associates of MK Levy stated the computer does not contain any classified information.

Warren Buffett to Buy 80% of Israeli Company Iscar

Warren Buffett, the legendary Omaha, Nebraska, investor, announced on Friday that he would purchase 80% of the Israeli company Iscar. The company’s current owners, the famous Wertheimer family, will receive some $4 billion for the deal.

The deal is the largest ever purchase of an Israeli company and makes the Wertheimer family the single wealthiest family in Israel.

Buffett: All 2,000 Iscar Employees Will Keep Jobs

Staff Sergeant Hananel (Meged) Dayan received the award during an Independence Day ceremony on Wednesday and was tried Thursday. He first appeared before his IDF Regiment Commander, who said he understood Dayan’s actions but that according to military regulations he must stand trial before the Brigade Commander.

The Brigade Commander ruled that Dayan be stripped of the award for outstanding service, including the revoking of a $1,500 cash prize. He also ruled that Dayan, who is a tank driver, is no longer eligible to be either a commander or a combat soldier. read more

Now that the adjectives “acting” and “interim” have officially been removed from Ehud Olmert’s prime ministerial title, get ready for another significant semantic change: Olmert’s “convergence plan” is on the verge of morphing into the “consolidation plan.”

Government sources confirmed to The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that there were discussions afoot to change the English translation of the name of Olmert’s plan to unilaterally withdraw from much of the West Bank and beef up a few large settlement blocks contiguous to the Green Line, called hitkansut in Hebrew, to something that makes more sense in English than “convergence.” read more

One of the main themes underlying Parsha Kedoshim is the loving care with which each Jew is to treat his Jewish brother. Indeed, we see that the first posuk of our Parsha conveys that spirit, “Hashem spoke to Moshe saying, “Speak to the entire assembly of B’nai Yisrael and say to them: You shall be holy, for holy am I, Hashem, your G’d.” (Sefer Vayikra, Perek 19, posuk 1) Our Parsha then goes on to enumerate the Asseret HaDivrot, the Ten Commandments in depth. read more
