The Winograd interim report about the Israeli military and government’s performance during the war in Lebanon , scheduled to be released at the end of March, will not include conclusions about individuals involved but only systemic conclusions, Channel 2 reported Thursday evening.
“The Olmert team appears to be no more the wiser in its approach towards the ever worsening situation in the Gaza Strip.”

How long before OC Southern Command Yoav Galant gets smacked-down for his comments? He’s not the first and won’t be the last high-ranking officer to have his knuckles crunched for speaking out or acting contrary to the regime. Shaul Mofaz did it. Moshe “Boogie” Ya’alon did it. Mofaz learned to that to get ahead in future politics, one must be silent and tow the party-line. Ya’alon was fired. MB

In the wake of recent warnings by military officials that Palestinians may intensify their Qassam rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip, checks of bomb shelters in the hard-hit Negev town of Sderot residents have found that none of the 58 public shelters there are equipped for a long-term stay, and more than half require significant rehabolitation.

For many years, since 1991 when Parsha Ki Tisa marked my son Philip’s Bar Mitzvah, I have spoken or written about a posuk in our Parsha which alludes to an event which took place 40 year later, in a subsequent Parsha.
The posuk being referred to (Sh’mos, Perek 30, posuk 30)says that while Moshe Rabbeinu was on Har Sinai being given Torah, Hashem said, “You shall anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them to minister (to serve) me.”
This seemingly obscure posuk raises the challenging question which cuts to the chase of what we are facing today. The question is; what about that Pinchas Ben Elazar? Why was he not anointed as a Kohen with his brothers?
