After Winograd, Are Olmert’s Troubles Over, or Just Begun?

.

Commentary;

Ehud Olmert spoke last evening before Knesset giving a speech which even Ehud Barak called “cynical and troubling.”

Olmert just squeeked by as less than a majority of 120 Knesset members as Jerusalem Post’s Sheera Claire Frenkel writes;

The Knesset narrowly approved the prime minister’s speech on the Winograd Report, by 59 to 53, with six coalition MKs – Labor’s Ophir Paz-Pines, Shelly Yacimovich, Eitan Cabel and Danny Yatom, and Kadima’s Avigdor Yitzhaki and Marina Solodkin voting with the opposition. The vote was purely symbolic. read more

Shas’ Empty, Meaningless Threats to Leave Government

.
Commentary;

One cannot help but be cynical about Shas’ empty, meaningless, symbolic — lacking subtance threats to leave the Olmert regime. We’ve seen this played out before in this and previous regimes. If Shas won’t quit over Olmert’s concessions to Abbas or over the Olmert regimes’ debacle in Lebanon, or the ongoing Gaza debacle directly related to Monday’s attack at Dimona, does Yishai really expect Olmert to quake with fear over child support payments? Shameless, Devalued Leadership to Blame for Consequences

Today’s Dimona attack, and perhaps, heaven forbid, more like it to come are the direct responsibility of Olmert, Barak, Yishai and of a shameless, devalued “leadership” whose values are about continuance of their own power, agendas and self-interests — the nation be damned. MB

Parsha Terumah 5768: Distinguishing Man’s True Motivations

.

By, Moshe Burt

It seems to this author that each Parsha in Torah carries with it a major theme, attribute or mido.

The two previous Parshiyot; Yithro and Mishpatim speak about related attributes; intent and honesty and our Parsha, Terumah addresses motivation.

In previous years, this Parsha sheet for Parsha Terumah dealt with man’s motivations equating them with what drives the athlete in the beginning, or as we baseball fans say, in the “Big Inning”. And as has been done regarding other Parshiyot, once again this year another revisit of the motivation of men seems appropriate. read more
