Parsha Tzav and Purim: Our Ketores — the Good and the Bad
.
In writing a vort on Purim, this author thinks back to a theme addressed in an earlier Siyum on Mesechta Megillah from three years ago as well as another recurring theme on this blog.
The Jew separates and distinguishes himself from the rest of the nations through the Mitzvah of Bris Milah, even though many of our contemporary Jewish brothers would distance themselves from, or stand in denial of their Yiddishkeit. But many among our Jewish brethren would deny Hashem’s control of the world and seek to tailor Torah and their Jewishness to fit the ways of the nations rather than accepting Hashem’s reishut (command) over the world.

Bibi’s NO Better Than Olmert
.

Commentary;
It may be that Binyamin Netanyahu “could fix” “the situation in the western Negev” but, in reality, he’s not one iota better than Olmert.
The last lines in Gil Hoffman’s are telling;
He [Netanyahu] said that all of Jerusalem must remain in Israeli hands, to prevent it from falling to Hamas and to keep it safe for people from around the world.
“To prevent it from falling to Hamas and to keep it safe for people from around the world” — not a word about the holiness of Jerusalem. There is nothing in what Bibi said relating to Jerusalem as our eternal heart, that Jerusalem, that Har Habayit is the very seed and root of the Jewish people.

Iron Dome System: How Effective in Protecting Sderot, Negev?
.

Commentary;
Dr. Aaron Lerner of IMRA points out an obvious shortcoming of the the Iron Dome System in its present form.
It seems obvious that what is needed are not static, stationary anti-rocket batteries, but fluid, mobile, transportable anti-rocket systems which are capable of reacting to intelligence, presumably derived in real-time by data supplied by satellite surveilance, as to location of rocket launchers so as to always maintain a 4 1/2 to 6 Km distance from point of launch. Whether such an obvious answer is evident to Defense Minister Barak remains to be seen. MB
Thursday War News: Islamics Void “Ceasefire”, 15 Kassams Pound Sderot, Negev, Israel Hits Launch-Ready Rocket; Bethlehem Islamic Jihad Chief, 3 Other Terrorists Offed in Bethlehem; 12 Terrorists, 72 Illegals Nabbed, Buses Hit by Rock Throwers in North
.
Commentary;
As predicted on this blog; the current “ceasefire”, “hudna” inevitably lasted all of 3 days. A normal, non-disfunctional government would wise up to it’s enemy’s strategies and rouges after twice or three times being deceived.
However, Israel’s successive secular, anti-Torah regimes of too tired, “New Jews” can’t make a cogent argument for it’s own existence in any language and therefore percieves that it must accept the morality thrust upon it by the nations which says in essence that, between the lines, Jewish lives are cheap and expendable. What Good are Motions of “Building” While Dividing Jerusalem?
.
Commentary;
This question begs asking regarding Shas’ ‘Kidmat Tzion’ Project near the Old City, in an area surrounded by Arabs as well as about the Givat Ze’ev project. Will these projects see fruition or be another rubber check by Olmert to Shas while the division of Jerusalem goes on, impervious to Shas? MB

Will Olmert Regime Back Down on Givat Ze’ev, Stiff Shas?
.
Commentary;
There is a type of “convergence” of several major stories of this time into one;
- The not-so-secret meetings between Ehud Olmert, Tzipy Livni, Mahmud Abbas and Ahmed Qurei in which Jerusalem is being divided, despite Olmert’s dubious denials.
- Shas’ egregious failure to keep their promise to leave the government, despite the now open fact that Jerusalem is being divided.
- Shas’ opting for deals, such as the Givat Ze’ev project — housing for Shas constituents and $475 million NIS and more in exchange for their continued presence in the government and facilitation of division of Jerusalem.
- The fact that Israeli government lack of credibility is such that the public and legislators believe more pronouncements of enemies rather than Regime denials such as that of Mahmoud Abbas’s announcement that Egypt mediated a “hudna” with Hamas in Gaza or regarding Jerusalem division talks.
- Abject failure of the Olmert regime, at all levels, to secure the nation against terrorist acts; be they by way of rockets and mortars, drive-by and rock-throwing terror and lynchings, lack of enablement of credible military responses to all forms of terror, lack of security in public buildings enabling such acts as the terror pogrom at Yeshiva Merkaz HaRav to occur, willful neglect or failure of the police to act as in their hesistance to enter the Yeshiva which enabled the toll of terror death and casualties to mount and more.
Olmert, facing pressure from “the nations” coupled with self-hatred for Jewishness and overwhelming lust for perpetuation of his prime ministerial power, will back down on Givat Ze’ev just as sure as he backed down on mounting a credible invasion of Gaza, just as he backed down on connecting Ma’alei Adumim to Jerusalem, just as he invaded Lebanon hodge-podge, not to win, in July 2006.
