This 2nd Parsha HaShevua takes some of the points from the original, brings additional points and wings it as to the modern-day Matzav.
“Hashem said to Avram, Go for yourself from your land … to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation…” (Breish’t, Perek 12, posukim 1 & 2) Lech Lecha, the “Aliyah Parsha.”
Rashi writes on the posukim;
“For your benefit and good. It is there that I will make you a great nation …” (Rashi on Breish’t, Perek 12, posuk 1)

Commentary;
Caroline Glick writes a damning indictment of the Left’s hypocrisy in assaulting language and, as a result, legality, morality and Jewish land and sovereignty. This post deals only with the hypocrisy regarding the left’s assault on legality, morality and Jewish land and sovereignty, although Glick drives home her point citing everything from feminist Education Minister Yuli Tamir’s advocacy of clitoridectomies in the Moslem world to the US presidential race where American feminists have “employed pornographic… and unabashedly chauvinist” invective against Republican VP candidate Governor Sarah Palin for her anti-abortion views.

There are eight parties running lists for City Council in the upcoming elections;
There is anglo representation with whom I am acquainted running on lists in 3 of the parties.
In this author’s humble opinion, the parties to vote for are either B’Yachad or Chen and here’s why;
My understanding is that the Mayor also holds a seat on city council. A vote for B’Yachad insures that Shalom Lerner has a strong voice in the running of the city, and the more votes cast for B’Yachad, the better shot that Founder and Amutah Chairman of Lema’an Achai David Morris can bring his business and non-profit experience to bear in helping to run city government efficiently. I do not know the others on the B’Yachad but Shalom tells me that the other slots are manned by individuals with recognized professional backgrounds and disciplines who are well-suited and qualified to be on city council and to head city departments.

This blog has received emails from at least a half dozen sources over the past half-hour indicating that the regime has sent Yassamnikim to expel the residents of Beit HaShalom despite the Court and despite 50 MKs.

As we see Israel beginning on the road to new national elections, it is important to note that these elections will take place sometime in February, 2009, whereas regularly scheduled municipal elections will take place throughout Israel on 11 November.
Municipal elections will choose Mayors and city councils in all of the major localities in Israel.
But nowhere else will these municipal elections impact on governing mindset as in the Beit Shemesh elections where Shalom Lerner and Moshe Abutbul knock heads with incumbent Mayor Dani Vaknin while a host of parties vie for representation on the 19 man Beit Shemesh city council. In this author’s humble opinion, Beit Shemesh faces a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor auguring in an era of governmental morality, efficiency, sensitivity and integrity by setting an example for all of Israel.

Sefat Emet asks;
“if G’d himself promised… that the move would be for his good and his benefit, why should this have been such a great test?” It seems that it was exactly because of Hashem’s promise to him that the test was of greater magnitude because when Avram actually went, he did so “as Hashem had spoken to him.” (Breish’t Perek 12, posuk 4)

There is a Midrash Says at the end of Parsha Breish’t which is prelude to No’ach and the Mabul. It speaks about Hashem, as it were, Bemoaning His Making of man. The Melachim say to Hashem that they would do far better than man and would sanctify Hashem’s Name. So they came down and were more evil than man.
The Melachim were referred to in Torah as “the sons of judges”, “the lofty ones” for “they took for themselves wives from whomever they chose. And so evil (Gilui Aroyot) became the “right of passage” expected by the “lofty ones” — the powers to be of the era and this evil became institutionalized,
