Gov’t Approves Permanent Housing for Evacuees
Don’t believe this headline for a second!! One of this blog’s contacts among the Gush Katif refugees sent the following email today;

Subject: Guess again
For all those who read that Sharon was now going to “make things easier” for us evacuees…guess again.
Got a call from our lawyer today. Now we have to document that our kids actually lived with us all their lives in Gush Katif….
How are we supposed to do that?
Luckily I saved some report cards but after elementary school the kids all studied on the outside….. Great system.
Nitzanim to be Opened for Development
Excerpts:
“Nitzanim, founded to provide an interim housing solution for Gaza evacuees, could become a permanent community. ”
“Evacuees will pay some $80,000 for plots whose size varies from 330 – 500 square meters, whereas new residents from other areas of the country will pay approximately three times that sum, Army Radio reported.”
Rabbinate Cancels Kosher Certificate for Jerusalem Hotel
Excerpts:
“On the eve of disengagement, a massive government public relations campaign maintained that ‘there is a solution for each evacuee.‘ Today, more than 100 days after nearly 9,000 Israelis were uprooted, it emerges that there is no solution for many of the evacuees, and indeed there never was.”
Many Israelis are indifferent, if not downright hostile to the plight of these fellow citizens. The daily Hatzofeh newspaper recently found a novel way of gauging sentiment by launching a fictional initiative to house evacuees in Tel Aviv. Its make-believe real-estate office, it reported, was inundated with antagonistic responses, hotly opposing the introduction of personas-non-grata into the city. ”
“The withdrawal left the lives of many families in shambles. Some youths even ended up in closed psychiatric wards as a result of emotional trauma. They didn’t have it coming. Our society can ill afford to look upon such tragedies with equanimity. ”
“… The lot of these citizens, who bore the brunt of years of terrorism before they lost everything this summer, should appall everyone, opponents and supporters of disengagement alike. This is not a matter of political orientation but one of plain decency. Only in a heartless society would such governmental incompetence or indifference, and the plight it spawns, be allowed to persist.”
JPost Talkback comments:
“I am so sickened by carelessness of the Israeli government, I cannot describe it in words. I used to dream of living in that country, and even hoped to make aliyah after college graduation. Now I realize it would be foolish to do so…”
“I live in the US and am therefore not commenting on the hitnotkut either way. I was in Israel during the disengagement and cannot believe that this is the end result. I cannot believe that this is how we treat our own. It is beyond disgusting. Shame on Israel. I am embarassed as a world Jew.”

“Kudos to the Jeruslam Post for being essentially the only national / international newsmedia to expose this horrific injustice and stand up for these underdogs. Shame on those who do not yell out against this abuse and lack of basic human decency. This is criminal and a crime being committed as we speak, by a government against it’s own people, while the rest of the country looks on, doing little to nothing to object. Shame on all those who support this abuse and shame on all those who remain quiet about it! It is my fervent hope that the silent majority stand up and speak out, demanding justice from the government on behalf of these victims.”
“This editorial is just what the good doctor ordered . There are two issues of major import. First, that the slogan “a solution for every problem/community” was just that – a slogan. While the gov’t prepared execution style the most massive military/police deployment in history, (though not to fight their genocidal enemies) they PURPOSEFULLY failed to prepare the bare minimum of subsistence for the “settlers”. That much is obvious. One cannot be so adept at one task, and fail so miserably at another. What is the reason for this? Simply put,to break the backs of religious zionism, and to make sure that Israel remains an Israeli state as opposed to a Jewish state. That was the main reason for the expulsion. They wanted not only a physical destruction of 23 thriving Jewish communities, but also a pyschological destruction. This explains why “disengagement” happened, even when military/security experts warned against its implementation. Tel Avivians mainly mimic leftist self loathing.”
Commentary:
Kol HaKavod to JPost for this hard-hitting editorial regarding the plight of my brothers from Gush Katif and the Shomron vs the callous, insensitivity of the Goverment of Israel and most ISRAELIS! Note the distinction between “Israelis” and Jews which the Left themselves have created and fostered.
Among the various talkbacks are comments from some claiming to be considering Aliyah.
I would think that what happened here in August would stiffen and make more resolute one’s desire to make Aliyah and to be a part of bringing about change in Israel rather than throwing your hands up in the air and saying the American “Ma’a la Sot” — (what can I do?), that Aliyah “would be foolish.”
It’s about time that we Jews stopped belly-aching and acted — to tar and feather Israeli politicians and send them on their way — on a rail!
Likud Primaries are December 19. Jews of Likud — get out the vote — for Feiglin and Manigut Yehudit. On election day March 28,Vote like your lives and homes depend it — because THEY DO!! There are ONLY TWO REAL JEWISH factions to vote for; NOT Gimmel, NOT Shas, surely NOT Mafdal or National Union. They are Moshe Feiglin and Manhigut Yehudit and Baruch Marzel and Hazit! MB
