‘Erez Attack Could Have Been Far Worse’
Excerpts;
An Islamic Jihad suicide bomber driving a truck loaded with four tons of explosives tried to ram the crossing early in the day.
The truck exploded on the Gaza side of the border, blowing a hole in a pedestrian passageway leading out of the terminal and into Gaza. But no pedestrians were there because it was still early and the IDF said no soldiers were wounded.
Shortly after the explosion, an IAF helicopter fired a missile at a nearby jeep which the army said was accompanying the exploding truck. The army said that terrorists apparently planned to use the jeep to kidnap soldiers or to penetrate across the border after the explosion.
Truck Bomb Set Off at Erez Crossing; No Injuries Among IDF Soldiers
Commentary;
A video report asserts that IDF fired on the vehicle as it approached, causing the premature explosion. Another report notes that an apparent technical snafu with the bomb itself caused premature detonation.
No matter which is the case, what can be said of today’s attempted attack; “But for the grace of Hashem, we go.” How long will we depend on miracle, on technical mishap to avert a tragedy? What tragedy, what catastrophic loss, chas v’chalila of Jewish lives will it take for the Jews to collectively realize how evil Israel’s political leaders and governance are? What will it take for Jews to rise up against political entities, such as the Olmert regime and it’s partner, the Shas party and it’s leaders, who collaborate with this evil regime, regarding Gush Katif, dividing Jerusalem and handing over Yehuda and Shomron, and now the Golan? What will it take for theJews to collectively rise up, put their lives on hold and do something about it? MB
