Commentary;
MK Rabbi Avraham Ravitz and Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yonah Metzger have both spoken out against legalized sale of Hametz anywhere in Israel during Pesach. Rabbi Metzger went so far as to connect successive regimes’-sponsored decline [or disintegration] of Jewish values with decline in performance of reserve duty which the generals and commanders attribute to erosion of reservists’ value system.
Are the so-called “religious” parties, and their Rabbis, able to connect all the dots between legalized Hametz sale during pesach and the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif, the division of Jerusalem going on as we speak, attempts to evict the residents of Shalom House in Hevron and the contemplated eviction of 100,000 more Jews of Yesha disguised as bogus “peace” Talks?
One thing is obvious; even if Shas has not the intelligence wherewithall to connect the dots, rest assured that Mahmud Abbas and his Pa, including the Palestinian Authority’s ambassador to Lebanon and former mastermind of the Abbas financed 1972 Munich Olympic massacre of Israeli athletes Abbas Zaki, knows how to connect dots real well. Ravitz: Liberal Terrorism Wishes to Uproot Israel’s Jewish Identity, Elie Leshem (Jerusalem Post)
Full Text;
The terror of liberalism wishes to uproot the country’s Jewish identity, MK Avraham Ravitz said Monday during a Knesset deliberation of the hametz law and the recent decision by a Jerusalem court judge to allow eateries to sell leavened products during Pessah.
“The law does not forbid selling or eating hametz, but rather displaying it in public,” Ravitz said. “The surplus liberalism of the judge prompted her to a patently unintelligent interpretation of the law.”
“I protest the liberal terrorism that wishes to uproot any Jewish characteristic from the State of Israel, which prides itself in being Jewish and democratic,” he added. “I call upon the government to rectify the judge’s wrong and safeguard the Jewish symbols of the state.”
Rabbi Metzger Links Chametz Law, Soldiers’ Motivation
Full Text;
Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yonah Metzger voiced sharp criticism in a Saturday sermon for the court verdict allowing the sale of chametz during Pesach. In a special pre-Passover Sabbath sermon at Jerusalem’s Yeshurun synagogue, Rabbi Metzger said that the Rabbi Yonah Metzger was closely linked to a decline in the State’s Jewish values.
“If the court, with its own hands, crushes a sacred Jewish value like the prohibition of chametz on Pesach, it is crushing the Jewish symbol of freedom and we are to blame for the results,” Metzger told the congregation.
He said that he has been meeting IDF battalion commanders who told him of the ongoing decline in performance of reserve duty among officers and other commanders. “When we tried to understand what the major reason for this was,” he said, “there was agreement that the reservists’ value system has eroded, and this causes a decline in motivation to carry out reserve duty.”
PLO: We’ll Drive Israel Out of Palestine
Excerpts;
“The PLO is the sole legitimate representative [of the Palestinian people], and it has not changed its platform even one iota.”
That’s what the PLO’s ambassador to Lebanon, Abbas Zaki, told Lebanon’s NBN TV in an interview that aired last Wednesday and was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
“In light of the weakness of the Arab nation and the lack of values, and in light of the American control over the world, the PLO proceeds through phases, without changing its strategy. Let me tell you, when the ideology of Israel collapses, and we take, at least, Jerusalem, the Israeli ideology will collapse in its entirety, and we will begin to progress with our own ideology, Allah willing, and drive them out of all of Palestine,” added Zaki.
