One must question whether this report is even eligible for posting on this blog as it is axiomatic that the Olmert regime has been dividing Jerusalem since prior to day 1 of Annapolis.
But perhaps, this short report is notable for the very reason stated above. Further, it keeps us focused on the FACTS that Shas knowingly remains in a government which, by it’s active role in dividing Jerusalem, signifies that it actively craves the division and eradication of Jewishness from Israelis. In the end, unless Shas leaves the government, it will eventually fulfill its own self-fulfilling prophesy, as noted by Dr Aaron Lerner of IMRA, whereby “for ‘pikuach nefesh’ (life endangering situation) Israel has to cut a deal on Jerusalem at all costs.”
In the history of Purim, when Mordechai heard of the gezeira hatched by Haman and Achaveirosh, he tore kriya and called for the Jews of Shushan to join him in fasting, t’shuva, tefillah and unity in the face an the impending Korban. The Jews put their individual business, families and obligations aside to join Mordechai and thus Hashem ochestrated annulment of the gezeira in the merit of Jewish pleas. And throughout history, there have been countless other stories regarding threats annulled by fasting, t’shuva, tefillah and unity.
But, alas, in contemporay Jewish history, we are too preoccupied with “what the boss will think,” or that unity doesn’t fit in with family obligation or commmittments, that it’s too inconvenient and “I have this, this and this to do.” Thus the expulsion took place during vacation season while the Jews indulged themselves in the Galilee, Eilat, etc. while their brethren were persecuted and expelled from their homes on Jewish land.
And so, one does not have to be Mordechai HaYehudi to fully understand what’s at stake while Shas sits by and lets the Olmert regime give away Jerusalem. MB

Despite assurances by her boss, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, to the contrary, Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni said in a weekend interview with Channel Two that Jerusalem would indeed be a subject for negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. “All core issues are up for negotiations,” she said in the interview – regardless of what Shas was told or believes.
The Likud reiterated its demand that Shas withdraw from the government, adding that the Olmert government was “dangerous for Israel.”
