Two weeks ago, this blog posted an entry citing the absurdity of a ruling regime professing “it’s Jewishness” while pursuing the actualization of divestment of Israel, and Israelis of any and all vestages of Jewishness by any and all means, even at the peril of the entire nation. The post included a discussion of Jeff Jacoby’s Boston Globe piece as summarized by Israel National News; Is Israel a Jewish State?
And just before the Annapolis conference got under way, Manhigut Yehudit head Moshe Feiglin echoed this very point.
This author opined two weeks ago; When you have a true Jewish state whose people and whose governing leaders cling to, by word and by every action, the emet — the eternal historical, religious truth of Judiasm, and where V’Ahavta, L’re’echa Komocha exists among Jewish brethren, there is no reason to beg your enemies to “recognize” who and what you obviously are!
Therefore, it should surprise noone that Isi Leibler’s Jerusalem Post opinion piece points out;
The final joint communique’ at Annapolis omitted any reference to a Jewish state and subsequently PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and the Arab League adamantly reiterated their determination never to accept a Jewish state.
Worse still is Olmert’s totally shameful silence as to why he caved in on his previous publically stated position; “we won’t hold negotiations on our existence as a Jewish state…Whoever does not accept this cannot hold any negotiations with me.” Yet, Israel’s politicians like Bibi Netanyahu, Benny Elon, Effie Eitam, etc. as well as the religious ones blanketing from Shas to Gimmel have not taken up the mantle to hold Olmert’s proverbial feet to the fire for yet another monumental blunder, on top of his Lebanon blunder (including his appointment of a blathering idiot as OJT defense minister before the Lebanon conflict) and finally, both his concoction of Annapolis and his going there in the first place.
Unfortunately, Leibler in his piece cites numerous sources proving Israel’s Jewish validity when the issue is not Abbas, not Ahmed Qureia, not Mr. Saleh Nazal, Director of the PA Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, not the Arab League, not Saudi Arabia, not George Bush, not Condi Rice. The real issue, the issue which Leibler refuses to touch is one that Moshe Feiglin and this author dealt with; the symbolism over substance of professing “Jewishness” while pursuing the actualization of divestment of Israel, and Israelis of any and all vestages of Jewishness — that is, to be “sort of pregnant.”
But the bottom line is that Olmert, his protexia-class regime cronies and the system of Israel’s governance are THE problem, THE ONLY problem. Olmert, his cronies, including Netanyahu, the other so-called “right-wingers” and the so-called religious parties care NOTHING for the interests, security and well-being of the nation they have the solemn responsibility of leading and legislating for. They care only for the furtherance of their own power, enrichment and aggrandisement — at the damnation of the citizenry over which they govern; the Jewish people. MB
