Less Money for Protection of Jews, More Money to Bomb Empty Fields?

Commentary;

PM’s Office Director General Raanan Dinor:

“Abandon… providing protection to every citizen …. Instead…, the money… can be used for active operations, such as attacks against rocket launchers.”

Does this mean real attacks on rocket launchers, wherever they may be and even behind human shield? Or does it mean more “hit them very, very hard” = hitting empty fields? We probably know the answer to that one. MB

‘The Government has Done Nothing’

Alon Davidi, the head of the Sderot Security Forum, said Thursday that only 40% of the classrooms in Sderot and other towns near Gaza are protected from rocket attacks. “The government simply did nothing for an entire year,” he said.

Davidi praised the Supreme Court for refusing the government’s request to reopen deliberations over the type of protection to be given to Sderot residents. The government was just trying to buy time, he said. Davidi accused Prime Minister’s Office Director General Raanan Dinor of leading a campaign to postpone the fortification of Sderot buildings.

Dinor: Less Money for Protection, More for Attack

Full Text;

Prime Minister’s Office Director General Raanan Dinor has called on the government to abandon the ideal of providing protection to every citizen as officials have requested in Sderot and surrounding towns. Instead, Dinor said, the money that would have been used for protection can be used for active operations, such as attacks against rocket launchers.

Homefront officials said recently that they need at least NIS 600 million to restore national bomb shelters in case of attack. Completing a system of protection in case of biological or nuclear attack would cost billions more, they said.

Dinor has requested further government hearings on the subject of rocket protection. Members of the Sderot Security Forum criticized Dinor on Thursday, accusing him of deliberately dragging out the process of reinforcing Sderot buildings despite government decisions regarding the matter.
