Batya of Shilomuse posted a piece on Friday entitled; National Masochism about what systematic, institutional brainwashing
of generations of Israel’s Secular “Golden Youth” has wrought.
The results of this nurtured and inculcated brainwashing have manifested themselves at all levels from politians, soo lacking in any valid connection to their Jewish roots and thus, soo lacking in any kind of national or personal pride that they now consider Jerusalem as “marginal” to according their leftist, systematically inculcated vision of true Israel, to the youth of today and how “most Israelis only know Judea and Samaria and even our capital, Jerusalem, from army service.”
Batya goes on to decry that “Israeli high school graduates are so ignorant of the geography our tiny country that… soldiers waiting for rides in Beit El ask if a ride to Jerusalem passes Ariel.”
But it is worse even than that; this generation which speaks the Hebrew tongue knows not how to even recite the Sh’ma. And if they’re placed in a room and asked to identify a line of pictures of the founders of the modern-day Medinat Yisrael, it’s highly doubtful that they could even identify one — probably not even a picture of Ben-Gurion.
Is it any wonder that there is no motivation among the young? That the current IDF chief of staff’s goal in case of war with Syria is “prepare for negotiations” rather than complete victory? That one recent article cited as fact that if Israelis were hired to jobs instead of foreign workers, that the Israeli work ethic is such that it would take 3 Israeli hotel workers to put out the quantity of work of 1 foreign worker? That the Ein Breira IDF fighting ethic of yesteryears has given way to the utterly distorted Western sense of morality? That today’s Israelis, with their so-called “fluent” Ivrit, are incapable of taking any pride in their own contemporay history, that they view contemporary history through America, not through our unique contemporary history in the context with thousands of years of Jewish history?
Thus the political/military debacle in Lebanon devoid of achieving any goals other than diminishing our own sovereignty by way of third-party “peace-keepers and their “proud moment of achievement” — the expulsion of 8,000 Jews. Thus Israel’s dire dependence on America rather than display any self-reliance.
This author, a month short of 8 years of Aliyah, seconds Batya’s conclusions; “the situation is not good” and is de-generating rapidly.
What to do? The entire corrupt governmental, judicial and institutional system in Israel; the influence-peddling, the Hamulas, the “old-boy” protexia networks must be ripped apart and the system reconstructed on a belief-based plan. How to make it, no, compel it to happen — like Batya, this author is short on solutions except for these; daven to Hashem and take action: the Ukrainian Model; 100,000 or more Jews in front of Knesset and in front of other media-visible locations 24/7, in shifts so that 10s of thousands or more Jews man positions at all times, even keeping Shabbos on site, until this evil, corrupt regime and system is brought down. Yes, the threat IS at your doorstep! For once, subordinate your dire fear for your jobs to your fear for Jewish national survival. Don’t send the youth to do an adults job. And one more thing, work hard to bring Manhigut Yehudit to governing power.
