Shteinitz Calls on Mazuz to Examine Suspicious Police Behavior

“The chairman of the Knesset committee tasked to examine the events during the eviction of nine families in Amona, MK Yuval Shteinitz, has called on Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to examine actions by police that raise suspicions of premeditated violations. Specifically, MK Shteinitz noted that the policemen were not wearing identifying badges, as regulations require, and that they ignored recommendations that female officers be deployed to evacuate female protestors.”
“During the evacuation of Amona, protestors claimed, police employed excessive violence and violated female protestors modesty.”
“Mazuz, speaking before the Knesset committee today, said that he was unaware of any instructions by senior officers for police to remove their ID tags. Shteinitz countered that, as that is in fact what happened, then it needs to be examined in light of the law.”

He added that he did not define how the police were to use their weapons.”
