MK Michael Ratzon Quits Likud to Lead Right-Wing Herut Party
Excerpts;
“MKs Ehud Yatom and Ayoub Kara, who also ended up in what are considered unrealistic spots on the Likud?s Knesset list, denied they intend to leave the party together with Ratzon.”
“Ratzon, Yatom and Kara were disappointed by the lack of trust in them expressed by the Likud Central Committee.”
Ratzon Decides to Make the Move to Herut
Full Text;
“Likud loyalist faction member MK Michael Ratzon has announced his decision to break away from the party and move to the Herut Party of former MK, Michael Kleiner.”
“Ratzon is in contact with others, possibly seeking to persuade them to follow his lead. Analysts also believe Ratzon at some point may sign an agreement with the National Union Party.”
“Kleiner’s party does not have any seats in the current 16th Knesset, failing to earn enough votes.”
This denial from Ratzon appeared in INN on 34 January, 2006; Ratzon Remains Loyal to Likud [Denies Moving to Herut], but remembering HaNegbi, Mofaz, etc., we’ll wait and see!
Commentary;
This could be the beginning of a melding together of a “Big-Bang” coalition of Right-Wing Parties; Ratzon and other Likud Rebels, the National Union, Kleiner’s Herut, Marzel and Eidelberg’s Jewish National Front Party, into one large coalition. And if that happens, and if Shas and the Gimmel can be drawn in, it could mean a bloc of at least 30 MKs in the upcoming elections. MB
