Sharansky Calling for a Return to the Genuine Likud

Likud Braces for Leadership Race

Excerpts:

“Sharon’s former colleagues in the Likud issued stern criticism of the man who had led the party until Monday morning. They accused him of stealing the party’s mandates and misleading its voters.

“Sharon’s opponents in the Likud faction said that it was now obvious that the prime minister was the real ‘Likud rebel’ all along. But they expressed hope that the party would emerge strengthened without Sharon.”

“‘The Likud is about to embark on a new and difficult path,’ Landau said. ‘Now that Sharon is leaving us, so is the corruption. The Likud can now return to its core: the Land of Israel, clean politics and social sensitivity.’

“At the first Likud faction meeting without Sharon, the large chair reserved for the party chairman was unoccupied. The MKs said following the meeting that it was one of the most pleasant meetings they ever had. MK Michael Eitan even proposed a toast.”

Commentary:

Was Arik Sharon the root of ALL corruption and high-handedness in Likud? The mafia family was a huge part of the corruption problem inside the Likud “Old Boys Club.” His departure made a huge crack in the party’s corruption but hasn’t eliminated the “pork”, the patronage, the Hamulas of Bibi, HaNegbi, etc. The party must enact stiff measures with teeth relating to standards of behavior and scope of influence. “Justice, Justice you shall pursue.”

Until such measures are implemented, the patronage=influence problem of the Bibis, the HaNegbis, etc. will grow and Sharon will be replaced by another demogogue who will again pull all of the dictatorial strings and ramrod evil down our throats once again. MB

Hazit Calls Upon Religious and Right-Wing Parties to Unite Under Ideals

A beautiful set of unification principles. But the interests and agendas of the other parties, including Likud, get in the way. But if Feiglin were to win the Leadership of Likud, a Likud-Hazit union is very possible. Perhaps then the other parties mentioned would follow suit. And perhaps then the Real Right will amass 50 plus seats in Knesset. MB
