He might want to self-examine his mainly arrogant general demeanor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He might also look at his own mal-feasance and abrogation of leadership in first opposing the expulsion, then siding with Sharon and in not voting in favor of expulsion. He might want to ask why he didn&#8217;t reach out to other borderline Likud MKs to vote in favor of the resolution which would have mandated a national referrendum on the expulsion<\/strong>.  The resolution, which would have become law with Shas&#8217; support but for lack of 10 more Likud members.     <strong>MB<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnn.com\/special.php?id=freund\"><strong>The Real Shimon Peres<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Excerpts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;With a straight face and a dour demeanor, Peres intoned about the need &#8216;to put country before party&#8217;, thereby seeking to explain his dramatic decision to leave the Labor Party and back Ariel Sharon for Prime Minister.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;But those words are merely an empty facade, a transparent ruse that no one can take seriously.&#8221;<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8221; &#8230; It was just two weeks ago that Peres sought to be elected Chairman of Labor, and its candidate for Prime Minister, in the party&#8217;s primaries.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In other words &#8211; had Peres won that vote, rather than enduring an embarrassing defeat to Amir Peretz &#8211; he would now be running against Sharon in the upcoming election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But because he lost, and Peretz refused to guarantee him a safe slot on Labor&#8217;s Knesset list, Peres was left &#8230; to cut and bolt, throwing his support behind Sharon in the hopes of salvaging his own political future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;&#8217;Country before party&#8217;? Hardly.
