Zion, President Katsav and the Vatican<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/article\/0,,13509-1823149,00.html\"><strong>Vatican Offers Swap Deal to Regain Site of Last Supper<\/strong>, dated 13 November, 2005<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The proposals, contained in a draft agreement between the Israeli Government and the Vatican, come on the eve of a state visit to the Vatican next month by President Katzav. Final details on a long-delayed accord on the status of Roman Catholic properties in the Holy Land are expected to be agreed during the visit &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Commentary:<\/p>\n<p>While he visits the papal property of the pope, I think it&#8217;s time that we picked up our psalms and <strong>pray that our President doesn&#8217;t pick up his parker pen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And ponder&#8230;<strong>why is it that when Israel wants to improve relations with an international party, it&#8217;s always contingent on our relinquishing property in Eretz Yisrael?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/ <\/strong>Jerusalem City Councilwoman Mina Fenton has provided additional letters and documents regarding protection of the sanctity of Jerusalem. Zion &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnn.com\/news.php3?id=93060\"><strong>Click Here<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Summary:<\/p>\n<p>Rabbi Mordechai Goldstein of the Diaspora Yeshiva was interviewed by Israel National News and outlined a number of steps being taken to protect Jewish ownership and possession of the Holy Place, including to &#8220;&#8230; increase tourism at the site, &#8220;&#8230;establish a Visitors Center on Mt. Zion &#8230;&#8221; ,&#8221;renovate the Yeshiva&#8217;s exterior&#8230;&#8221;, &#8220;hold a monthly Rosh Chodesh gathering and more.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>These steps will &#8220;&#8230; hopefully ensure, even if a new government arises and even if the Catholic Church comes back with more demands, that all the different bodies here &#8211; such as the Greek Orthodox and others &#8211; know their exact places and their rights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3\/ <\/strong>To further promote Jewish interest in the area, VOICES Magazine is planning a &#8220;King David&#8221; tour of Mt. Zion and environs for this Sunday. Beginning at the Haas Promenade at 9 AM, the tour will include visits to the City of David, Mt. of Olives, the new Maaleh HaZeitim neighborhood, and King David&#8217;s burial site on Mt. Zion. The cost: 50 shekels.
