Two Killed in Rocket Attacks Over the Sabbath<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

A grandmother and her four-year-old grandson were killed Friday night when Hizbullah rockets slammed into their home as the family sat down to Shabbat dinner. <\/p>\n

The child’s family had left the city of Nahariya, which has suffered the brunt of rocket attacks by Hizbullah terrorists, to spend the Sabbath with family in the community of Meiron, near Tzfat (Safed). The child’s mother and father were also injured in the direct hit on the grandmother’s house. <\/p>\n

Six other people were injured in the attack on Meiron, including a 10-year-old girl listed in serious condition and her grandfather. The 10-year-old suffered from a shrapnel shard that lodged in her neck when the rocket hit. <\/p>\n

The victims were transported to the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat. Three other people suffering from shock also arrived at the hospital. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

IDF Homefront Command Chief Major-General Yitzchak (Jerry) Gershon spoke to the nation in a live televised broadcast Saturday night. <\/p>\n

The Homefront Commander said that in light of the current situation, Israelis should continue to monitor and comply with IDF instructions. Addressing those civilians in range of the rockets currently fired by the Lebanese attackers, Maj.-Gen. Gershon issued detailed precautions to be taken. <\/p>\n

The Homefront Command instructed those citizens living in the Carmiel and Tiberias areas, which have been struck over the Sabbath, to remain in protected rooms in their homes, far from doorways, windows and external walls. Residents of Haifa, Acco (Acre) and nearby areas have been instructed to remain in their homes. <\/p>\n

Residents of the most northern communities, referred to by the Homefront Command as the “frontline”, are to remain in communal bomb shelters.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At about 8:30 Friday night, Hizbullah attackers fired an Iranian-supplied C-802 anti-ship missile at the Israeli vessel, which was stationed 16 kilometers (10 miles) off the Lebanese coast. The missile strike resulted in a fire on board and three soldiers were believed to have fallen or been blown overboard. <\/p>\n

The body of Staff-Sergeant Tal Amgar, 21, from Ashdod, was found under the rubble as the damaged vessel was making its way back to the port of Haifa.<\/p>\n

Still listed as missing-in-action are Sgt. Yoni Hirschkovitz, 21, from Haifa; Cpt. Shai Atias, 19, from Rishon Lezion and First Staff-Sergeant Dov Shteinshos, 37, from Carmiel.<\/p>\n

The air force and navy immediately launched a search for the missing soldiers, but as of Saturday night, the three have not been found.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
