Ambassador Huckabee, Justice and Truth in Judgement and the Israeli Mindset

by Moshe Burt

This visit by US Ambassador Mike Huckabee to the Arab town of Turmus Ayya during this past Shabbat, and the Ambassador’s seeming knee-jerk reaction of “dangerous and threatening settlers,” which was actually found to be the driver of the Ranger vehicle and his passenger who were on a security personnel detail, has irked and rankled Israelis.

According to the driver’s explanation on “X”:

According to his [the driver’s] account, a shepherd reported seeing dozens of vehicles gathering near the edge of Turmus Ayya, in an area where he claimed Jewish residents had experienced repeated attacks and arson.

Amishav Melet [the driver] said he entered the security Ranger to check what was happening and simultaneously notified the IDF, as required by their security procedures.

“When we arrived and saw respectable people and media crews, we said hello and continued on our way,” he wrote. “Shortly afterward, the army informed us that this was a proper, coordinated visit.”

What seems to have actually occurred is that the so-called “Americans” living in that Arab town who invited Ambassador Huckabee are Islamics who presented the Ambassador with a “Pallywood” production that the Ambassador did not see through, because, after all, they are apparently “Americans” and so they must be stating “truth,” and the Ambassador, unfortunately, seems to have bought into their fraudulent projection of settler “terror.”

Ambassador Huckabee spoke, accepting the Arab residents’ explanation regarding the occupants of the Ranger, and before knowing the facts, lashed out at what he called “dangerous and threatening settlers.”

Yes, the Ambassador is a long-time Zionist. But when he is confronted with the truth that the two Israeli men in a Ranger — security people from a nearby Yishuv who were patrolling to protect Jews, he has not conceded, either to Israeli officials, or to President Trump, that he erred in his statement.

Obviously from the one man’s appearance, he is a religious Jew, that NO WAY did they have any intention of doing harm, except if provoked in protecting Jews against an Islamic terror attack!

In Parshat Shoftim, our Torah speaks:

“Tzedek, Tzedek tierdof…”Righteousness, righteousness [also rendered Justice, Justice] shall you pursue, so that you may live and possess the land that Hashem, Keilokecha, gives you.” [Sefer Devarim, Perek 16, posuk 20 rendered to English in the Artscroll Stone Chumash]

Don’t we Jews have the RIGHT to expect Righteousness and getting all the facts by our Ally before uttering about fault? Justice certainly requires enabling Jews to protect one another’s very lives. Yet reportedly, in the aftermath of the Pallywood event, the United States is considering pressuring Israel into expelling the handful of watchful Jews who today live in terror-ridden Areas A and B. Don’t we Jews have the RIGHT to expect Justice in OUR LAND, to expect our Ally to support and encourage us to protect our LIVES — rather than uttering libel about our efforts to protect our fellow Jews from Islamic violence, alleging that any violence is our “fault”?

Also, we Jews must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by an Ally making false accusations against us. Let’s not be like the miraglim, the spies who were scared pale by giants, or false accusations and possible blood-libels whether from Mamdani, or an American Ambassador who didn’t assess the facts before accusing. And don’t forget, the Ally doesn’t hold all the cards. Hashem does!

Just because the United States is a big nation, population-wise, Israel has proven to be, albeit a small nation by population comparison, we have proven with our technology and the immense skills of our people and our military — our incredible Chayalim to be an immense power in our own right. We have earned, hard-earned, the right to respect from our Ally.

Ambassador Huckabee, You are an honorable man. Do the honorable thing — Admit that you were not told the whole story by the Arabs, and admit you spoke incorrectly and tell President Trump that your assessment was incorrect and inform him of the TRUE circumstances. Otherwise, I lose ALL Respect for You!

Respectfully, Ambassador Huckabee; What about this, and many other such Islamic Terrorist cases? And what about the situation in the Christian quarter of the Old City, when your Christian brethren try to call the Israeli police and get the “PA” police instead because of all the illegal “PA” sim antennas in the Christian quarter? What say YOU? I’ve always respected you as long as I’ve known of you. Ambassador Huckabee, DO THE RIGHT THING!
